XIII INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON LANDSLIDES
The International Symposium on Landslides is an event convened, since 1972, every four years by the Joint Technical Committee on Natural Slopes and Landslides (JTC1) and the Federation of International Geo-engineering Societies: ISSMGE, ISRM and IAEG (FedIGS). During the XII ISL meeting in Naples, Italy in June 2016, Colombia was designated as the venue for the XIII ISL in charge of the Colombian Geotechnical Society. As a consequence of the COVID 19 pandemia, it was agreed to hold this 13th event in virtual mode from February 22nd to 26th, 2021 with origin in Colombia-South America.
This event is centered in five central themes [(1) Weather and landslides, (2) Landslides and seismo-tectonic and volcanic activity, (3) Landslides and human activities, (4) Effects of landslides in infrastructure, (5) Landslide risk assessment and management] and it includes the online presentation of eleven keynote lectures on the state of knowledge on the above topics by Professors: Charles W. Ng; Luciano Picarelli, Giovanni B. Crosta, Ikuo Towhata, Ken Ho, Dave Petley, Jordi Corominas, Cees Van Westen, Nuria Pinyol, Sergio Mora and Marta Lucia Calvache. There will also be discussions on 110 approved articles, and a simultaneous technical exhibition of geotechnical equipment and services.
