Prof. Neelima Satyam (India - Asia)

Dr. Neelima Satyam Devarakonda is a Chair Professor of Civil Engineering at IIT Indore and former Head of the Department, with a Ph.D. from IIT Delhi, specializing in disaster-resilient geotechnical engineering.
Her research addresses earthquakes, landslides, rockfalls, and terrain instability through seismic microzonation, site response analysis, and advanced field monitoring.
She has led and advised critical disaster mitigation and infrastructure safety projects across the Himalayan, Aravalli, and Sahyadri regions for agencies including NHAI, BRO, RITES, and IRCON.
As a national leader in IGS, BIS, and the Indian Roads Congress, she plays a key role in framing standards and guidelines for hazard-prone infrastructure.
Her contributions to disaster risk reduction have been internationally recognised, including the AGU Natural Hazards Mitigation Award and INSA Associate Fellowship.
