Industry Partnership and Engagement Committee
Welcome to the Industry Partnership and Engagement Committee (IPEC) of the ISSMGE
IPEC is the ISSMGE BoardLevel Committee dedicated to connecting the global geotechnical industry with the work of the Society. Building on more than a decade of achievement as the Corporate Associates Presidential Group (CAPG), IPEC broadens that mission: we are the bridge between industry practitioners and ISSMGE's committees, young members, innovation initiatives, technical programmes, and awards.
Our mandate IPEC exists to connect, promote, and facilitate. We help industry professionals discover the many opportunities ISSMGE already offers, and we help ISSMGE's committees reach industry without duplicating their work. In short, IPEC is ISSMGE's industry engagement hub.
What we do
- Connect industry to ISSMGE's committees channelling practitioners' expertise into Technical Committees, innovation, professional advancement, and awards.
- Promote and amplify committee activities, calls, and opportunities to a global industry audience via the ISSMGE website, Bulletin, LinkedIn, conferences, and workshops.
- Build a global industry network through regional industry representatives nominated with our Vice Presidents and National Societies.
- Create opportunities for young professionals mentoring, career exposure, and industry engagement, in partnership with the Young Members and Future Leaders communities.
- Support recognition by widening industry participation in ISSMGE awards.
Our heritage
Founded in 2011 at the initiative of ISSMGE President Prof. JeanLouis Briaud, the Corporate Associates group grew under the successive leadership of Dr. Michael Lisyuk, Sukumar Pathmanandavel, and Dr. Peter Day, delivering initiatives such as the "Are we overdesigning?" survey, conference sessions, and contributions to the ISSMGE Heritage Time Capsule (sealed at the 21st ICSMGE, Vienna, 2026). In 2024 Dr. Roger Estephan was appointed Chair, and in 2026 the group evolved into IPEC as a BoardLevel Committee under the presidency of Prof. Lyesse Laloui.
