Key Discussions and Decisions:
1. Participant Introductions:
- Participants introduced themselves and their companies.
2. CAPG Meetings:
- Roger proposed reinstating six-week online meetings to discuss progress and new ideas. These meetings will reect on work done between sessions and discuss new initiatives.
- An online poll invitation will be sent to x the date of the upcoming progress meeting
3. Website Restructuring:
- Aline presented initial ideas for restructuring the CAPG website to better align with CAPG's vision and showcase member activities. The restructuring aims to create a space for members to share their experiences and content.
- The website will include dedicated pages for each member company to present their services and contributions.
- Lars proposed revising the CAPG vision and objectives to better reect the needs of the commercial sector and to foster closer interaction between practitioners and academics.
- Mario suggested creating a searchable database on the CAPG website that categorizes member companies by their services. This would make it easier for members to nd and collaborate with companies offering specic geotechnical services.
- Prepare a detailed plan for restructuring the CAPG website, including member company presentations and interactive slides.
4. Marketing Campaign:
- The focus is on increasing CAPG membership through a marketing campaign, including a renewed application form and website updates.
- The campaign will identify potential companies and prepare marketing emails to attract new members.
- Ang suggested leveraging local geotechnical societies to recruit new CAPG members by reaching out to their corporate associates. This approach would help streamline the recruitment process and expand the membership base efficiently

5. Benefits for CAPG Members:
- Discussed potential benefits such as reduced conference fees, extended early registration periods, reduced booth rental fees, and awards for contributions.
- The aim is to create a win-win condition for both CAPG members and ISSMGE.
- Lars emphasized the importance of engaging the commercial sector and practitioners more actively within ISSMGE events, which have traditionally been academically focused.
- Negotiate with ISSMGE Board to endorse reduced fees for conferences and booth rentals for CAPG members.
6. Collaboration with Time Capsule:
- Sukumar's invitation for CAPG members to contribute to the Time Capsule project, with a presentation planned for the next meeting. The Time Capsule will be a physical one-meter cube capsule to be presented in Vienna in 2026.
- Coordinate with Sukumar to present the collaboration opportunities with the Time Capsule project in the next meeting.
7. Participation in European National Assembly:
- CAPG invited to participate in the European National Assembly in North Macedonia in January 2025. The event will include a half-day dedicated to CAPG discussions on market innovations and implementation.
- Coordinate with Professor Laloui for the agenda and details of the European National Assembly in North Macedonia and circulate the invitation to CAPG members.
8. Upcoming Conferences and Events:
- Shehab presented a list of upcoming ISMGE events and potential CAPG participation. The list includes major international conferences relevant to CAPG.
- Roger suggested creating a dedicated group for the Vienna event to prepare a topic and coordinate CAPG's presence.
- Share the list of upcoming ISMGE events and identify CAPG members who can attend and represent CAPG.
9. Vienna Event Preparation:
- CAPG has 30 to 60 min slot at the Vienna event to present signicant activities and topics.
- Proposed Topics:
- Geotechnical Practice Around the World: Discussing the diversity in geotechnical practices and regulations across different countries. This would highlight the variations and potentially suggest a standardized approach.
- Regulations: Examining the different regulations in geotechnical engineering across various markets, and how ISSMGE could contribute to standardizing these practices.
- The topics aim to engage a wide audience by addressing practical and regulatory challenges in the geotechnical eld, potentially leading to recommendations from ISSMGE.
- CAPG is open for any other suggestion/idea
- Formation of a Group: A dedicated group will be formed to prepare for the Vienna event, including conducting surveys or research if necessary.
10. Long-term Activities and Initiatives:
- Discussed ideas: for industry guidelines, ISSMGE certication, and awards for industry contributions.
- Lars highlighted the potential benets of international standardization in geotechnical practices, drawing parallels with the offshore geotechnical sector where standards are more unied.
