Our strength lies in how we bring together our design, engineering and advisory capabilities to provide our clients with integrated solutions across the entire asset lifecycle. From shape and plan design and deliver operate and optimise to close and transform, Aurecon designers, engineers, scientists and advisors work with our clients across markets and asset types, to tackle some of the worlds most complex challenges.

Our purpose is bringing ideas to life, to imagine and co-create with our clients a better future for people and the planet.

Our culture of 'Believe it. Say it. Do it.' reflects our deep commitment to our clients and each other to build trust and create a better future together. We are a team who place eminence, digital and innovation at the core of all we do.

We are an owner managed company and have over 7,000 employees across 11 locations. We operate across Asia Pacific with a strong presence in Australia, New Zealand, and multiple countries in Asia.

We provide advisory, design, delivery and asset management services on projects worldwide, across a broad range of markets.

Our purpose

Our purpose is bringing ideas to life. Each day we work with our clients to imagine and co-create a better future for people and the planet.

At Aurecon we often talk about how, when we were children, we explored the why of things, imagining all that was possible.

How we are creating a better future

Our purpose unites us and allows us to feel the impact we can have through the work we do. Explore how we are bringing our purpose to life for our people, our clients and the planet.

Our ground and underground engineering expertise

Ground and underground engineering relates to the provision of complete solutions for ground- and underground-related infrastructure, ranging from ground investigation to laboratory testing, design of underground infrastructure and provision of specialist construction supervision. It is a fundamental component of all civil engineering projects, forming the backbone of projects in various industries ranging from transport to mining, buildings, energy, water and construction. For any project to be successful, ground risk needs to be adequately defined and appropriate strategies developed to manage risks.

Aurecon offers broad, multidisciplinary ground and underground engineering expertise across all stages of project delivery, ranging from conceptual phases to specialist supervision for construction of major projects.

  • Feasibility studies: early involvement of ground engineering specialists often provides significant cost savings
  • Preliminary design reports: options development and preliminary designs of ground engineering solutions
  • Geotechnical investigation, interpretation and reporting: expertise ranging from developing scoping documents to laboratory testing program, interpreting data and preparing interpretive and baseline reports
  • Hydrogeological studies: investigating and interpreting hydrogeological data for projects such as tunnels, railway stations, deep road and rail cuttings, coastal and port facilities and deep basement excavations
  • Specialist Geology: detailed assessments of the inherent risk of sinkhole formation and settlement in karstic formations and the design of suitable ground engineering solutions in highly variable ground conditions
  • Earthworks designs: designs and specifications for bulk earthworks, embankments and cut slopes both in soil and rock
  • Laboratory testing: provision of materials and geotechnical laboratory services materials and earthworks process quality control
  • Slope assessment and risk mitigation: exceptional geotechnical services across all aspects of investigating and assessing slopes and designing solutions to mitigate slope risks
  • Tunnel design and specifications: detailed design for hard rock and soft ground tunnels using the most suitable tunneling methods
  • Immersed tube and jacked box tunnel design: complex and specialised tunneling solutions and pipe jacking
  • Tunnel waterproofing and secondary lining design: designing and detailing lining systems for all tunneling environments and construction methods
  • Design of excavation support and retaining systems: extensive experience in the design of conventional retaining systems through to more complex systems supported by best practice numerical modelling of excavation behaviour
  • Ground improvement design: significant experience in the design and performance assessment of most ground improvement techniques, from wick drains and surcharging to dynamic replacement and deep soil mixing
  • Seismic and liquefaction assessments: risk assessments and ground engineering design skills have been developed by teams at the forefront of their field in some of the most seismically active areas of the world
  • Ground movement prediction: assessment of ground movements and potential impacts on buildings and structures induced by ground engineering construction works or the natural environment
  • Materials sourcing and development planning: earthworks and pavement materials can often present a significant cost to infrastructure development. Sourcing, optimising and planning effective materials management strategies is essential
  • Foundation design: foundation solutions for both land and near-shore projects, across pad footings, rafts, piled rafts, piles and caissons, and more
  • Instrumentation planning and implementation: critical to all cost-effective and innovative ground engineering solutions
  • Numerical modelling: using finite elements, finite difference or distinct element modelling in 2D and 3D
  • Pavement investigations and designs: flexible, rigid, ultra-thin and gravel pavement designs for all types of infrastructure and traffic requirements
  • Haul road design: understanding our clients commercial, maintenance and whole of life cost drives is critical to cost-effective haul road designs

Specialist construction supervision: managing clients ground engineering risks from planning stages through to construction, with teams experienced in construction support for tunneling, subgrades, earthworks, deep excavations, coffer dams and foundations
