6th European Conference on Physical Modelling in Geotechnics
Description
The 6th European Conference on Physical Modelling in Geotechnics (ECPMG 2028) will be held at the University of Southampton, from the 20th to the 22nd of June 2028, under the theme Physical modelling to support sustainable and resilient society, supported by the British Geotechnical Association.
ECPMG 2028 has the following objectives:
- To develop and share knowledge, best practice and open-source equipment and methods related to physical modelling in geotechnical engineering.
- Promote the use of physical modelling resources in teaching and training.
- Strengthen links between academia and industry and enhance the visibility of physical modelling.
Contributions to the conference related to the following themes are warmly invited.
- Scaling principles and fundamentals;
- New facilities, equipment, measuring techniques and methods;
- Onshore and offshore foundation systems;
- Geotechnical infrastructure and geo-technologies; and
- Energy geo-structures and climate effects.
We welcome proposals for mini-symposia or workshops, and we particularly encourage submissions with industry-linked case studies, papers discussing negative results, the use of physical modelling in education. ECPMG 2028 will also support the participation of early career researchers via spotlights slots and Bright Spark awards.
