TC220 is very pleased to announce a new Honour Lecture named after John Dunnicliff and on the subject of Field Monitoring in Geomechanics.
John is a self-employed consulting engineer, specializing in geotechnical and structural monitoring. He has taken the lead role in teaching more than 100 continuing professional development (continuing education) courses on this subject. He is author of the 1988 and 1993 book “Geotechnical Instrumentation for Monitoring Field Performance.” During the past twenty-six years he has solicited and edited more than 200 articles and discussions for the Canadian quarterly magazine Geotechnical News, under the heading Geotechnical Instrumentation News (GIN). GIN has become a source of valuable practical information for all of us who are involved with monitoring. In 2010 he was awarded Distinguished Membership of the American Society of Civil Engineers, with the citation: “For pre-eminent leadership in the field of geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring and for his long and distinguished career as a specialty consultant dedicated to the improvement of geotechnical practice.”
The first ISSMGE John Dunnicliff Honour Lecture on Field Monitoring in Geomechanics will be delivered at the 11th International Symposium on Field Monitoring in Geomechanics in London, September 2022.
