Accurate constitutive modeling of natural deposit clays remains a challenge due to their complex mechanical behaviors, including overconsolidation, structure, anisotropy, and small-strain stiffness (SSS). This paper presents the formulation and validation of the Shanghai Model (SHM), a unified elastoplastic constitutive framework that integrates these features. A systematic parameter calibration procedure is proposed, where all parameters have clear physical meanings and can be determined from conventional and advanced laboratory tests. The model is validated against oedometer tests, isotropic and K0-consolidated undrained triaxial tests, and triaxial tests with SSS measurement on various Shanghai clay layers. Results show that SHM accurately captures the stress-strain behavior, effective stress paths, excess pore pressure, and stiffness degradation across strain levels. SHM provides a useful tool for numerical analysis in soft soil regions.
