Centrifuge modelling of Austrian levee standard cross-sections

Centrifuge modelling of Austrian levee standard cross-sections

A levee built to the Austrian standard cross-section was tested in a geotechnical centrifuge at 100 g. The core soil was compacted to achieve a relative density of 97% to closely model real-world conditions. The primary aim was to simulate a 100-year flood height scenario and assess the levee stability. The levee exhibited remarkable resilience. Amidst the rising frequency of extreme weather events, this research contributes to enhancing flood defences and community safety.
