The settlement analysis of storage tank foundations is usually estimated using empirical or analytical method. These methods do not take into account either the stiffness of the foundation nor the stiffness of the superstructure. In the present study, using the numerical finite element program PLAXIS 3D, the effect of water-storage tank wall stiffness and its foundation is studied. The results show that the wall stiffness of the water-storage tank has a significant effect on the reduction of differential settlements for semi-flexible and semi-stiff foundation.
