In this study, a two-dimensional finite element model was developed using OpenSees to assess the seismic performance of an underground railway box structure considering ground conditions representative of those in Korea. The geometry and dimensions of the underground box structure were defined based on the design plans of a cut-and-cover concourse commonly used in Korea, and, using the developed model, seismic fragility function were proposed through analysis of the structures dynamic behavior across Korean soil classifications. As a result, the dynamic response characteristics of the structure varied under different conditions, and it was found that the structure became more vulnerable to earthquakes as the depth from the ground surface to the bedrock increased and the soil stiffness decreased.
