Evaluation of the reliability of pressuremeter tests using a multi-criteria analysis

In the context of the Grand Paris Express (GPE) metro project, a large number of pressuremeter tests were collected to improve knowledge of subsoil properties and to design underground structures. Despite the standardized nature of pressuremeter testing, many factors can influence the quality and reliability of the results. This article proposes a multi- criteria analysis methodology to assess the reliability of pressuremeter tests by calculating a reliability index for the pressuremeter modulus. Applying the evaluation process to 300 GPE pressuremeter tests, we classify them into different rating groups, identify suspicious tests and establish characteristic curves that can be extremely useful to the geotechnical profession.
