Experimental study on the elasticity modulus of RCA-RTW mixtures

The present study aims to show the possibility of soft rubber tire waste (RTW) application in rigid recycled concrete aggregate (RCA) by evaluating the mechanical properties of the large concrete aggregates with a grain diameter size up to 4.0 mm mixed with small ground rubber with diameter 0−2 mm, with weight percentages between 0 and 50%. The paper presents the results of drained monotonic triaxial tests on compacted RCA−RTW mixtures. The test results prove that the inclusion of rubber in the RCA significantly reduces the elastic modulus (E). From the perspective of the utilization of the studied material in road construction, a less rigid (stiff) material is obtained.
