Extended Processing Method for CPT Sleeve Friction

Extended Processing Method for CPT Sleeve Friction

Sleeve friction (fs) is a key parameter in cone penetration tests (CPT). Acquisition of fs data is standardized by ISO 19901-8:2023 and ISO 22476-1:2022, which include mandatory requirements and recommendations for further processing. This paper introduces an extended method for processing fs data that considers the specific geometry of the cone penetrometer. Implemented and certified for several offshore wind farm projects, this method aims to harmonize fs data by adjusting for geometrical wear of cone penetrometers. It can also correct results to match specific ideal geometries, such as solid-body cones, analytic cone penetrometers, and digital-twin penetrometers.
