Influence of environmental factors on pavement performance under unsaturated soil conditions

This article explores the impact of various environmental factors, including precipitation and water content, on the behavior of unsaturated soils under different loading conditions. Using numerical modeling with FLAC2D finite element software, the study highlights the significant role of environmental conditions in influencing pavement performance. Among these factors, moisture is the main one, directly affecting pavement and sub-base properties. The results underline the crucial relationship between environmental conditions and the behavior of unsaturated soils in pavement engineering.
