L’utilisation du pressiomètre Ménard en Algérie pour la conception des ouvrages géotechniques

In Algeria, the Ménard pressuremeter is considered a reconnaissance technique for the design of foundations of structures (piles, shallow foundations,) and earth constructions, such as roads, railway lines, dams. It can be carried out in all kinds of soils, allows in situ measurement of the stress-strain response of soils and provides the geotechnical engineer with a failure parameter (the ultimate pressure) and a deformation parameter (the pressuremeter modulus). Direct correlations between the measured parameters and the design parameters are used to estimate the bearing capacity of soils and the settlement of structures. Another trend in the interpretation of these tests also involves identifying the usual soil parameters required by simple constitutive models for soils in numerical calculations. This article deals with the predictions of bearing capacity and settlement of a bored pile, based on the numerical interpretation of pressuremeter tests taking into account nonlinear elastic and elastoplastic models. Numerical calculations taking into account the rheological parameters resulting from this approach are carried out in order to predict the behaviour of a single bored pile subjected to a static axial load. The results are compared with those obtained during instrumented loading tests, and show the applicability of the method used.
