In this study, a three-dimensional numerical investigation was conducted to evaluate the cyclic lateral behaviour of a model-scale monopile embedded in saturated medium-dense sand. The finite element model was developed in OpenSeesPL using the Pressure-Dependent MultiYield02 (PDMY02) constitutive model with an explicit representation of the soil-pile interface. The model was validated against 1g model test results, and comparisons were made in terms of pile head displacement accumulation, deformation and rotation profiles along the pile, and soil-pile interaction behaviour during the first 50 loading cycles. The numerical results reproduce the main characteristics of the experimental response. In addition, the computed p-y relationships indicate that API (2014) curves tend to overpredict soil reaction at intermediate depths and do not capture the cycle-dependent reduction in soil resistance observed in the simulations.
