We are grateful for the helpful feedback by the Reviewers that helped us to improve the quality of the manuscript. We carefully responded to all points and have modified the manuscript accordingly.
Response to comments:
1. On page 3, change the numbering of equations (1) and (2) to (8) and (9) respectively.
We have taken into account your comment by updating the numbering of equations 8 and 9."
2. In the figure 2.b, d and f, why the KR value is not the same for the three water levels considered?
Indeed, KR values are not the same because these values, which concern flexible piles, were obtained through iterations, unlike semi-rigid piles where KR is kept constant. Therefore, it is difficult to control the final value of KR in flexible piles compared to semi-rigid piles. This was explained in the following paragraph located on page 4 (section 3.3).
For semi-rigid piles, calculations are carried out by adopting the value of KR = 1.00E-02. This KR value, which remains constant for this category of piles, will be kept fixed based on the variation of other parameters, including the ground water level and the pile slenderness ratio.
For flexible piles, calculations are conducted by adopting an initial value of KR =1.00E-3 before iterations. For this category of piles, an iterative calculation must be performed until convergence is achieved. The final value of KR obtained for flexible piles, considering variations in the ground water level and the pile slenderness ratio, ranges between 1.20E-03 and 1.33E-03. »
3. In the conclusion, please correct or explain this sentence, which is in contradiction with the discussions given previously However, a slight effect was observed for the pile slenderness ratio D/B=20, with a slight increase in deflection at the pile head for both semi-rigid and flexible piles
We have taken into account your comment by modifying the conclusion as follows:
The slenderness ratio of the pile has a negligible effect on flexible piles and on semi-rigid piles with slenderness ratios of D/B=7 and D/B=10. However, a significant effect was observed for a slenderness ratio of D/B=20, showing a noticeable increase in deflection at the pile head for semi-rigid piles.
