SOLUTION TO A MULTI-FLOOR UNDERGROUND PROJECT


Development of urban environment has been an undeniable factor, due to the population travelling to cities, the number of vehicles has increased considerable, which translates into lack of space for parking vehicles. As a result, all new large buildings in urban areas have to be built with underground basements in order to accommodate the number of vehicles. To this end, the use of containments walls is used to guarantee the integrity of the structures surrounding projects. The present article aims to present the solution adopted for the construction of underground basement floors in a building in the center of Maputo city, Mozambique. During the execution of the passive braced containment of the building in question, quality control works and the instrumentation plan adopted stand out compared to those estimated in the project phase.
