UNDERSTANDING THE WAY WATER IS A LANSLIDE DESTABILIZING FACTOR : AN UPDATE
An update of all the progresses made in understanding how water is a contributing factor in slope instability is presented with the view of being the most relevant possible in the design of stabilising landslide schemes. Particular attention to surface water runoff must be paid in association with means of identifying all different possible aquifers, new ways to characterize aquifers type and the importance of piezometric observation surveys
