He devoted almost all his professional career in the Cameroon National civil Engineering Laboratory (LABOGENIE) where since 1986, he has realized field investigations, geotechnical design and monitoring of major road and building projects in Cameroon and in the central African region. He has conducted research on the influence of sample disturbance on the mechanical and physical properties of clay soils in the region of Yaoundé; rheological properties of humidified natural crushed gravel used in road works in Cameroon, the correlations between Young modulus and physical properties of lateritic soils in Cameroon and soil stabilization for road construction structures. He has supervised the redaction of recommendations for geotechnical investigations of construction sites in African sub-Saharan countries.
Dr Kana was co-chairman of the 14th African regional conference for Soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering and has served as Secretary General of the Transnational Committee for African geotechnical engineers (CTGA) since 2007. He is Associate Professor of the School of Engineering of the University of Yaoundé 1, a Member of the Board of Directors of the Association of African Civil engineering Laboratory (ALBTP) (since 2011) and a Member of the ISSMGE Board Level Committee MPAC of ISSMGE 2009-2013.
