  • Awarded every year (annual)
  • Below age of 40
  • Winner receives small cash prize, gives a minor keynote at the CGS annual conference, certificate, and submits conference paper
  • Winner is awarded at the CGS conference and has one year to prepare for the talk and paper

  • Awarded every year
  • For best 15-minute technical presentation on video submitted by a graduate student at a Canadian university.
  • CGS membership is not required
  • Award: First place: framed certificate and $1,250 funded by the Canadian Foundation for Geotechnique; CGS membership for 1 year; registration for the CGS Annual Conference at which the presentation is made. Second place: framed certificate and $750 funded by the Canadian Foundation for Geotechnique; CGS membership for 1 year; registration for the CGS Annual Conference at which the presentation is made.

CGS Undergraduate Individual Report Award

  • Awarded every year
  • For best undergraduate student report by an individual in Canada.
  • CGS membership is not required
  • Award: First place: framed certificate and $1,000 funded by the Canadian Foundation for Geotechnique; CGS membership for 1 year; registration for the CGS Annual Conference at which the presentation is made. Second place: framed certificate and $750 funded by the Canadian Foundation for Geotechnique; CGS membership for 1 year; registration for the CGS Annual Conference at which the presentation is made.

  • Awarded every year
  • Report For best undergraduate student report by a group in Canada.
  • CGS membership is not required.
  • Award:  First place: framed certificates and $700/group member (up to max of $2,800) funded by the Canadian Foundation for Geotechnique; CGS memberships for 1 year; registrations for the CGS Annual Conference at which the presentation is made. Second place: framed certificates and $400/group member (up to max of $1,600) funded by the Canadian Foundation for Geotechnique; CGS memberships for 1 year; registrations for the CGS Annual Conference at which the presentation is made.

Michael Bozozuk Canadian Foundation for Geotechnique National Graduate Scholarship

  • Awarded every year
  • For exemplary academic standing, research output, contributions to practice, and leadership/activity in the geotechnical community by a graduate student enrolled in a Canadian university.
  • CGS membership is not required.
  • Award: $5000, funded by the Canadian Foundation for Geotechnique.

Dennis Becker Award

  • Awarded every year
  • For an individual who has completed all coursework for masters project.
  • For academic excellence, the purpose and relevance of the research project to the practice of geotechnique, and the quality of the research summary.
  • Award: $5000, funded by Canadian Foundation for Geotechnique.

CGS Early Achievement Award This Award

  • Awarded every year
  • Intended to recognize outstanding accomplishments provided by members in the early years of their career. It focusses on the excellence of technical realizations and contribution to practice/industry and the services provided to CGS and the profession from a young professional.
  • Below the age of 40
  • CGS member for minimum of 5 years
  • Award: Framed certificate funded by the Canadian Foundation for Geotechnique
Mexico Manuel González Flores Medal for Young Geotechnical Professionals
  • Awarded every 2 years
  • Below age of 35
