Objective 1: Dissemination

  • To disseminate knowledge and practice in residual tropical soils to members of ISSMGE and other learned societies particularly ICOLD (International Commission on Large Dams)
  • Organize specialty Conferences, symposia and workshops
  • Encourage preparation of keynote lectures, state of the art lectures, new technologies, general reports for ISSMGE and ICOLD International conferences, Regional Conferences, Local (member society) Conferences.
  • To develop other innovative ways to encourage broad participation of ISSMGE individual members in the activities of TC-107

Objective 2: Guidelines & Recommendations

  • Set a recognized definition of Tropical Residual Soils (TRS) and determine their diversity and specificity, if possible by region on the earth 
  • Establish guidelines and technical recommendations for investigating and testing TRS,
  • Provide the range of main geo parameters variations within each region  
  • Identify and assemble any available codes, standards, guidelines for the main types of TRS
  • Prepare overviews of these standards, codes, and guidelines
  • Make guidelines and recommendations in TRS for practice
  • Gather and synthesize selection of case histories related to success, failures, and difficulties experienced with TRS  (testing, foundation, construction material, slope stability ...)

Objective 3: Conference Assistance

  • To assist with the technical programmes of ISSMGE and ICOLD at international and regional conferences
  • To liaise with organizers of International and Regional Conferences to identify what TC - 107 can do
  • To promote the presentation of findings in TRS in the main and discussion sessions either within ISSMFE and ICOLD
  • To find other innovative ways of projecting TC 107 and its work

Objective 4: Industry Links

  • To interact with industry and overlapping organizations working in the area of TRS
  • Identify and create a database of organizations and institutions working in the area of TRS
  • Create a database of organizations whose work involve laterite and lateritic soils
  • Interact with these organizations to identify how to respond to their needs
