In 2026, Austria will host the 21st International Conference on Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ICSMGE). Coinciding with this event, the 8th International Young Geotechnical Engineers Conference will take place, providing a dedicated platform for young professionals in the field. This gathering in Graz, scheduled for the days just before the 21st ICSMGE in Vienna, offers an ideal setting for young geotechnical engineers to exchange research findings, innovative ideas, and experiences. It also serves as an opportunity to establish international connections and explore the evolving challenges of the geotechnical engineering community.
The conference will unfold over three days, conveniently preceding the 21st ICSMGE, allowing participants to easily attend both events in Austria.

Each ISSMGE Member Society will be asked to select two representatives to attend the young geotechnical conference. Ideally, they should be 35 years of age or younger at the time of the meeting. To encourage a broad spectrum of discussion, no specific conference topic is defined, and any topic related to geotechnical engineering is welcome. Alongside presentations by participants, senior geotechnical engineers will deliver keynote lectures and engage in international dialogue during technical sessions.
