International Conference on Geotechnical Engineering Education (GEE 2020) ONLINE, June 23-25, 2020

Following the unprecedented changes in our personal and professional lives due to Covid-19 and after careful consideration and evaluation of the risks and alternatives, the Organizing Committee of the International Conference on Geotechnical Engineering Education (GEE 2020), in consultation with paper authors and presenters, opted for a "Virtual Conference" with features that can become in the future staples of regular conferences.

The program of the conference includes:

  • the 2nd John Burland Lecture, delivered by Mark Jaksa
  • two keynote lectures, delivered by Susan Ambrose and Rodrigo Salgado
  • three invited lectures, delivered by Ton de Jong, Minna Karstunen and Vassilia Christidou
  • 7 thematic sessions, including 23 original research papers
  • 2 panel discussions

Interactive Participants (registration fee 220 €) will have OnDemand access through the conference platform to all videos of the sessions presented during the e-Conference for three weeks (until July 15, 2020), will be able to use the chat function for live Q&A with speakers, presenters and panel members during allocated discussion times, and will have access to the written forum for the week of the conference.

View-only participants (registration fee 50 €) will have access only to the virtual conference during the dates June 23-25, 2020 (in a streaming mode but not on demand).

AVAX-TC306 prize for young geotechnical engineering educators

The prize consists of a lump sum of € 2000 to attend a conference on engineering education, of the young engineer's choice, until the end of June 2022.

DEADLINE for applications: Friday June 19, 2020

Applicants must have a PhD in geotechnical engineering and be younger than 40 on the first day of the conference (23 June 2020). Interested candidates must complete their registration to GEE2020 and submit a brief Curriculum Vitae (2 pages max) and a statement (max 500-600 words) describing which engineering education conference they want to attend and how they think attendance will help them towards their career goals.
