We are delighted to announce the launch of a new Technical Committee, TC223 in Bio-Geotechnical Engineering. The overall goal of the Bio-Geotechnical Engineering Technical Committee is to support the global geotechnical community in translating sustainable and innovative biologically based approaches towards practically deployable industrial technologies and engineering design solutions. This TC will bring together a global community of geotechnical engineers working on all aspects of Bio-geotechnical engineering (e.g. harnessing biology in the form of vegetation, fungi, biofilms, biocemented soils, bioinspired geotechnics, deployment of biological products) to share knowledge, disseminate best-practice, develop guidelines, initiate and strengthen collaborations and promote innovation.
We held the launch meeting of TC223 on 19th May 2026 with >35 participants attending this first meeting, with lots of ideas discussed for upcoming activities. We will keep you updated on those soon.
If you missed the meeting, you can find the minutes and slides on our webpage under TC223 meetings.
