Monopiles are the most popular type of foundation for offshore wind turbines and capturing the effects of cyclic loading is critical for their design. Hence, this paper presents a recently developed contour diagram based model for monopile cyclic design. The magnitude of the cyclic degradation is based on the soil mobilization under design lateral loads, the number of cycles and the soil cyclic contour diagrams. The calculation of cyclic degradation is inspired by the interaction diagram approach recommended by EA-Pfahle, Appendix D2.2.1 for pile axial cyclic loading. The cyclic degradation is applied to the monotonic soil reaction curves in terms of p-multipliers which affect both strength and stiffness. The results of the model compare well with the PISA cyclic field tests in Cowden stiff glacial till
