TAOC Meetings
Overview
Regular meetings between the Technical Advisory and Outcomes Committee (TAOC) and the Chairs of ISSMGE Technical Committees (TCs) provide an important forum for communication, coordination, and collaboration across the Society.
These meetings aim to facilitate dialogue between TAOC and TC leadership, clarify questions regarding TC guidelines and activities, share experiences and good practices, discuss common challenges, and identify opportunities for collaboration and new initiatives.
During the previous term (2022-2026), at least one meeting was organized annually, generally in two online sessions scheduled 12 hours apart to accommodate different time zones. Participation was consistently high, with approximately 95% of TCs represented. The ISSMGE President and Secretary General also regularly participated.
Discussions covered TC activities and reporting, guidelines, ISSMGE Interactive Technical Talks (IITTs), coordination of conferences and workshops, and other initiatives of common interest. These exchanges also provided valuable feedback from TC Chairs, contributing to improvements in TC operations and guidelines.
Building on this experience, the TAOC will continue organizing regular meetings during the 2026-2030 term, with particular emphasis on strengthening collaboration among TCs and supporting initiatives that generate tangible and lasting outcomes for ISSMGE and the broader geotechnical community.
