Dr. Zhongqiang Liu is Senior Engineer at Norwegian Geotechnical Institute.Oslo，Norway，with expertise in risk and hazard assessment for geohazards，machine learning in geotechnics. He received his BSc and PhD in Geotechnical Engineering from Tongji University. His major fields of work are related to geohazards，assessment of uncertainties，statistical and machine learning methods，risk and reliability analysis，and offshore foundation engineering. He initiated and is now Chair of Technical Committee 309 of ISSMGE："Machine Learning and Big Data in Geotechnics". He is a Board member of "Geotechnical Safety Network (GEOSNet)" since 2017，a member of ISSMGE Technical Committee 304："Engineering Practice of Risk Assessment & Management" since 2015.Dr.Liu is Guest lecturer at Norwegian University of Science and Technology(NTNU)and at University of Oslo(UiO).
His research has earned several international recognitions，including Best Paper Award of Journal Georisk in 2015.OTC ASCE Best Paper Award in 2019 and GEOSNet Young Researcher Award in 2019. Dr. Liu is Chair of the First International Workshop on Machine Learning in Geoscience，co-chair of the Second International Workshop on Machine Learning in Geoscience and Scientific committee member of several international conference.
