The 10th European Conference on Numerical Methods in Geotechnical Engineering (NUMGE 2023) was successfully hosted at Imperial College London from 26th to 28th June 2023.
This prestigious series of conferences, organized by the ERTC7 (European Regional Technical Committee 7 for Numerical Methods) under the auspices of the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE), began in 1986 in Stuttgart, Germany. Subsequent conferences were held every four years, including Santander, Spain, in 1990, Manchester, United Kingdom, in 1994, Udine, Italy, in 1998, Paris, France, in 2002, Graz, Austria, in 2006, Trondheim, Norway, in 2010, Delft, The Netherlands, in 2014, and Porto, Portugal, in 2018.
NUMGE 2023 provided a vibrant platform for academics, researchers, and engineering practitioners to convene and deliberate on the cutting-edge advancements in numerical methods in Geotechnical Engineering. The conference also addressed the prevailing challenges encountered in their application to geotechnical issues. Moreover, NUMGE 2023 was instrumental in fostering discussions about future developments in this ever-evolving field of expertise.
As a special tribute, the conference featured a dedicated segment in honor of the late Professor Scott Sloan, a distinguished and longstanding member of ERTC7.
